You work hard, and you want to be at your best so you can show up every day and give it your all. The problem is… with all the demands on your schedule, and all the stress at work and at home (even if it’s good stress), you sometimes struggle to show up at all — never mind being at your best! Sometimes, you want to escape, just to get away from everything that’s winding you up, wearing you out, and grinding you down to a state of painful exhaustion.
I know how difficult it can be to work through that anxiety, stress, and pain.
I’ve been there, and I’m here to help. Together, we can renew the vitality, tranquility, and bliss you need in order to make it through everything that’s going on — to thrive and live your life the way you want to.
Hi, I’m Erin LaMountain, Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) and owner of Riverside Serenity Massage & Wellness. Before I became a massage therapist, I studied music and creative writing at Virginia Commonwealth University, where I discovered my love and talent for massage. During exam season, I noticed my classmates’ stress levels (and shoulders) rising. I intuitively reached out to them, offering brief shoulder and back massages using techniques my mother taught me from her time training to be a physical therapist in the United States Army. I marveled at how touch relieved my classmates’ stress and — according to them — helped them perform better on their exams.
After I left VCU, I studied massage therapy at the Institute of Massage Therapies, graduating at the top of my class in late 2010. I received my certification through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork in the Spring of 2011. For a few years, I worked in spa and medical massage settings, but I became frustrated that my clients weren’t consistently getting what they needed from their experiences at those locations.
That’s why, in the spring of 2015, I opened my doors at Riverside Serenity Massage & Wellness, so I can make sure your massage experience is everything you deserve. From your ability to reach me with questions before your first appointment (and between appointments) to finding out what’s really important to you — so we can work together to help you enjoy those things as much as possible — I am really passionate about giving you the absolute best massage you’ve ever had. I spend time getting to know you and the challenges you face. Together, we figure out and address some of the causes of your concerns, rather than merely easing symptoms.
We work holistically to figure out the factors contributing to your pain, anxiety, and discomfort – whether those factors are purely physical, or whether they stem from another aspect of wellness. Getting the whole picture also helps you outline your wellness goals to yourself. This helps me figure out how I can help you reach those goals as well as other things you may want to explore.
Whether your goal is as complex as recovering from a major accident or as simple as taking a relaxing break from your chaotic life, I can help.
I treat a wide variety of concerns in my massage sessions. The most common of these are:
My massage style integrates theories and techniques from many types of massage I have studied and trained in, and I tailor each massage to your needs and goals for each session. Among the techniques I use are:
